We would like for each and every one of our visitors to feel at home and to experience the unconditional love and brotherhood that could only be given as a gift from the Divine.

We would like for you to find a friend in us. Primarily, we hope to serve as a homebase for all those of Haitian and Afro-Caribbean descent living in or visiting the New York area. As Haitians emigrate outside of the country, Vodou practitioners usually gather for services and ceremonies in private homes. The Temple is open to anyone looking for a place of worship, and our membership has blossomed over the past several years. With this growth has come the rewarding responsibility of providing a continued spirit of worship and service that does not sacrifice the family closeness that has been our trademark.


At present, the Temple offers a balance between Haiti’s rich traditions and modern day realities. It provides a foundation for our spiritual, intellectual and social needs. We adhere to egalitarian mainstream Vodou practices. Warmth of song, prayer, sermons, learning, social events and community service add meaning to our lives, and members are available to participate in celebrations of all life-cycle events.

The Temple's members include individuals, couples and families from all walks of life. Some Vodou practitioners come from more traditional backgrounds. Others are interfaith couples, individuals searching for answers, or those rediscovering their religion.
